A member of the dogwood family, Cornelian Cherries are small trees, usually growing to around 16 feet in height, though they can reach up to 25 feet depending on the cultivar. Cornus sericea is very adaptable to differing soils and can even grow in standing water. Cornus sanguinea requires well-drained soil. Cornus alba is best in moist well drained soil. A particularly hardy plant, it is more vigorous than the species and thus suitable for the northern Midwest. Yellow-twig variety with white and gold leaves.
